published 4 years ago

You might face a situation where you need to manage your WordPress installation from command line, situations like - your server is infected, you turned off the http service to block further damage to your server. Whatever may be the case, wp-cli is an amazing tool to manage your WordPress website.

First off, download the tool:

curl -O raw.githubusercontent.com/wp-cli/builds/gh-pages/phar/wp-cli.phar

Check if it works:

php wp-cli.phar --info
Now you can upgrade your WordPress core files, database and plugins using the following commands
php wp-cli.phar core update
php wp-cli.phar core update-db
php wp-cli.phar plugin update --all

Thats it! Isn't that great?

Try out yourself and see all the amazing features at wp-cli.org.
